Pengaruh rock yang kental tampak mendominasi Hang It Up, meski synth-pop masih mendominasi tentu saja. De Martino pun turut menyumbangkan suara untuk menambah semarak single ini. Agak mengagetkan pad awalnya saat mendengar jika Coldplay akan berduet dengan Rihanna, karena mereka memiliki gaya yang bermusik yang berbeda. Ekspektasi yang tinggi beriring juga dengan kecemasan apakah kolaborasi mereka justru berujung dengan kegagalan. Untunglah, saat kita kemudian mendapatkan kesempatan mendengarkan single kerjasama mereka, Princess of China, semua kekuatiran pun sirna. Dalam Mylo Xyloto tampaknya Coldplay tampaknya memang ingin terdengar lebih nge-pop tanpa harus kehilangan ciri khas mereka. Sungguh disayangkan sekali saat mendengar kabar bahwa band rock-alternatif legendaris R.E.M. memutuskan untuk membubarkan diri. Perjalan karir mereka sepanjang tiga dekade telah membekaskan banyak kenangan indah bagi penikmat musik, dengan memberikan banyak single-single juara. Sebagai persembahan terakhir, single-single tersebut pun kemudian dikompilasi kedalam sebuah album greatest hits mereka, Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage 1982–2011, yang dirilis pada tanggal 15 November nanti. Namun, tentu saja belum lengkap sebagai tanda perpisahan jika R.E.M juga memberi kita sebuah beberapa lagu baru sebagai penutup. Dan salah satunya adalah We All Go Back to Where We Belong yang terasa sangat menyentuh ini. Filmnya belum lagi rilis, akan tetapi seri keempat dari Twilight, Breaking Dawn part 1 sudah menggempur dengan barisan single untuk album soundtracknya. Kali ini giliran Christina Perri yang mengharu-biru kita melalui A Thousand Years yang telah dirilis sebagai single pada tanggal 18 Oktober yang lalu. Seperti biasa, vokal Perri dengan luar biasa menghembuskan emosi yang sangat intens pada lagunya. Sulit untuk tidak larut dalam lagu balada yang sangat romantis ini. Bermodal gitar dan string sections, vokal melankolis dari Perri semakin menambah sendu dari A Thousand Year. Mendadayu-mendayu seolah mendamba akan cinta yang akan menjelang. Halloween tiba! Serial ini lagi booming banget di Amrik sono, yang dibesut oleh Ryan Murphy, orang dibalik Glee. Meskipun Glee dan American Horror Story ini beda genre jauhh, tapi bung Ryan ini ternyata bisa mengemasnya dengan apik, so he's multi genre director :) Para anggota Glee pun juga kesengsem berat sama serial ini, seperti yang mereka tulis di twitter mereka. Contohnya si Lea Michele (Rachel Berry) kecewa buanget karena ga bisa nonton American Horror Story tadi malam (pagi ini, WIB. red) gara-gara harus syuting Glee (That's what's TIVo are for right), terus si Dot Jones (Coach Beiste) nonton episode ini dan bilang 'freaking awesome!', dll.

Serial ini berkisah tentang sekeluarga yang pindah ke suatu rumah yang... berhantu dan penuh misteri. Sounds cliche emang, tapi bagi penggemar film horror pasti bisa memuaskan dahaganya :)

Dibuka dengan vokal pedih ala Amy Lee, denting piano dan riff gitar elektrik langsung mengambil tempat sebagai teman bernyanyi Lee yang kali ini mengambil atmosfir yang kelam. Sedikit mengingatkan akan single yang dulu mengangkat nama mereka, Bring Me To Life. Suara cello yang berkesan murung menjadi lead untuk string section yang memberi kesan megah pada lagunya. Sedikit bercorak rockestra, namun kali ini Evanescence tampaknya ingin kembali mengenang unsur gothik yang dulu sempat mencari khas mereka, sehingga pada akhirnya My Heart is Broken adalah sebuah lagu galau gelap dalam semangat rock yang kental.

Westlife (Alb. Greatest Hits / Sony Music) – Lighthouse *
Bersiap-siaplah untuk album kompilasi hits kedua Westlife yang akan dirilis pada tanggal 21 November nanti. Kali ini pasti akan sangat memuaskan para fans karena album tersebut akan berlimpah dengan banyak single dan lagu yang membuat kita jatuh cinta dengan mereka. Tentu saja akan ada beberapa lagu baru yang menyertai, termasuk single Lighthouse ini. Ditulis oleh pentolan Take That, Gary Barlow, bersama John Shanks yang bertindak sebagai produser. Single yang akan dirilis pada tanggal 14 November ini masih bericirikan pop melankolis yang kita kenal dari Westlife. Agak dipengaruhi oleh musik bercorak soul, vokal yang berbagi antara Mark Feehily dan Shane Fillan kembali lagi berhasil mengharu-biru kita untuk larut dalam lagunya.

Aura Dione adalah seorang penyanyi pop-folk asal Denmark yang merilis album debutnya, Columbine di tahun 2008 yang lalu. Kini, untuk menyusul album tersebut, Aura Dione akan merilis album keduanya yang diberi judul Before The Dinosaurs. Untuk single pertama, ia melepas Geronimo yang uniknya terdengar sangat nge-pop karena diaransemen dengan sentuhan elektro-pop yang kental. Lagunya pun terdengar sangat mudah dicerna, dengan gimmick permainan pengucapan vokal seperti mengeja yang umumnya dipakai dalam sebuah lagu pop ringan. Namun, uniknya lagu ini malah terdengar sangat istimewa tidak hanya karena vokal Dione yang unik namun juga mungkin masih terdapatnya kental folk dalam lagu ini. Hasilnya, dengan sangat mudah akan menyukai Geronimo dan mungkin saja menjadi adiksi baru.
